I'm 3D modeling in Blender my ideal Britannia just for fun, and I'm using Ultima VI as a baseline map for this, but I want it to be a mashup of all the Britannias from the games.
What Britannian islands, towns, and landmarks that are NOT in Ultima VI, are cool or important from other Ultima games?
The style is more like 3D pixel art, which makes such a big world more doable for me than if I did it photoreal.
I'm using Blender and its Dyntopo sculpting mode to do this. I added a map of the game to a plane, sculpted it, and keep re projecting the image using U B (uv project, bounds) from a top view.
The most fun and delicious way to make land I've found, is in VR using Adobe/Oculus medium. it's glorious, but exporting and importing and retopologizing in Blender can be grating. Using Dyntopo in blender is the next best thing, and I can press Shift + ~ to drop down in 1st person and walk around IN Blender, which saves a lot of time since I don't have to import it all into Unity just to see horizon lines and such.
if you have a page for yours I'd love to see your take on the world and get inspiration! I've found the images on Mysterious Sosaria web site really cool and inspiring. World Creator looks amazing. I'm trying to keep mind really simple and pixelart ish, to make my project more doable, so a Britannia made in World Creator would be amazing to see!
Also someone asked:
And I said this (outdated info now that this devlog exists):
When I showed my map-in-progress to the Facebook UDIC group and asked for other areas to add, they suggested Bordermarch, Farthing, Vesper, UO Islands, Ambrosia, Isle of Fire, the Isle of Sherlock the Strange, the 4 lighthouses, the Serpent Pillars, and the dungeons and towers.
Here's the original fb UDIC post.
