I'm 3D-modeling the gargoyle roofs in Ter Mur. What does the top of a Gargoyle house look like? Pointed? Flat? I also widened the doorways so the Gargoyles could comfortably fit through. Was this an oversight in U6?
Several people mentioned the pyramidal structures in Ultima IX, which is something I'll definitely reference. But I don't have a picture of that right now, so here's this:
D.P. suggested this:
Ground-floor doors for the wingless should be functional and small; no sense making the servants' entrance ostentatious or attention-drawing! Don't make the inside of the building pyramidal; it's much easier to build round vaults or flat ceilings than it is to build a hollow pyramid. I'd say make the houses flat-roofed, so that you can easily alight to climb into the building itself.
If gargoyles chiefly fly, the buildings should be very open on the inside, with lots of balconies and terraces. If they fly sometimes, but it's tiring or hard or they just mostly prefer to walk, outdoor spaces should be built with flying in mind, but indoor spaces should be similar to human houses. In my opinion."
These are good ideas I'll definitely consider. Very good stuff to develop a sparse area with more cool stuff.
B.G. added:
I responded: "My understanding was that the gargoyle land was on the underside of the disc of the Britannian world. You go through the underground to get there, but it's actually upside down to us. That was my understanding. Is that right?"
E.N. simply said:
...which leads to a whole other big question, which you can read about here: 2024_09_09_01: Which Direction Does the Gargoyle Land Face in Ultima VI?
Here's the original fb UDIC post.
