Zoltan Concept

Here's a concept of Zoltan! Notice the sun-bleached hair tips. I didn't put that in. So cool the details the AI just adds. It was tough since the words "gypsy" and "shirtless" give me ban warnings on Midjourney. Roma is the respectful name, so that works better. Rom is one man, Romni is for one woman, Roma is plural or the people as a whole, and Romani is the adjective most of the time. Basically.

I went through the SQL database and replaced the references to the word "gypsy" with words like Rom, Romani, and Roma as appropriate. I also included some extra lines about how the word gypsy is offensive, if the word is mentioned to some people. Trying to be respectful and responsible, but ALSO, I specifically left a few characters who prefer to be referred to as Gypsies, since that can happen in real life as well.

One character in particular still goes by the term "King of the Gypsies" specifically because he knows it appeals at a marketing level to non-Romani audience members, hopefully attempting to demonstrate the nuance of these kinds of words.

The idea is to present a multi-faceted view of the world while increasing cultural awareness, sensitivity, and empathy, and not just to be a useless, moralizing scold more interested in grand-standing than in making the world a better place.

Cool image! A while ago I made an Android app to convert images to pixel-art, called Pixcha. Here's how your updated image could look as a 32 color in-game portrait.

Update from September 2024: Someone on this post asked what image generator I was using, so I recently said this image is midjourney V4. Nowadays I use Stable Diffusion running locally on my computer, and the new Flux.1 model in the ComfyUI interface. This requires a decent video card (I have an 8GB RTX 2060 Super) but it's very handy for concepting and sharing ideas.
