Music Test 01

Music Test 01 I made in FL Studio.

This should give a general idea of the kind of music I want to make for my Age Of Singularity Ultima VI Fan Recreation Project. Music is my favorite thing to make; I just need to make games to go with it. I made this in FL Studio in about 9 hours after watching some of Grugtar's Ultima VI let's play.

I'm new to making proper music and want feedback about what could be better, including mixing, instrumentation, etc. The horn in this will be replaced by a higher quality one. my Symphobia 1 library was not working because I needed to upgrade my old Kontakt 5 to Kontakt 7, which is dumb, and I wasn't able to do that in time (before running out of motivation for this song), though it's fixed now, and when I gete around to doing another pass, I'll use the better horn.

Playlist: Grugtar's Ultima VI Let's Play.

Two themes in this song were written by Ken Arnold for the Ultima games, and I elaborated upon aspects of those. (Wanderer from Ultima IV, and another secret one buried in there.) I wanted to blend in some piratey vibes since Ultima VI has some pirate bidness happenin.

This is more of a suite/theme/vibe exploration than something you'd actually hear in-game. Thought elements may end up existing, care must be taken for background repeating music to not become tedious, repetitive, or distracting. A really good model is Skyrim, so listen to some Skyrim music, which is slower and more ambient, to get an idea of what I'd actually like to go for. Although in some places where there would be diegetic bard music, it could be more like typical Baroque chamber music, or stuff like this here.

Here's the original fb UDIC post.
