Which Direction Does the Gargoyle land Face in Ultima VI?

The intro scene of Ultima VI, with the Avatar strapped to a stone slab in the Gargoyle world with gargoyles surrounding him, and two moons and stars clearly visible in the sky. On the right are two options - gravity flips in the caverns below britain, or it doesn't. Which is correct?
In Ultima VI, the intro shows the gargoyle slab with the stars & the moon.
Is the gargoyle world layer, in lore, actually upside-down compared to Castle Britain (does gravity flip somewhere in the caverns)? If so, where? Or is the intro image creative license?
Richard Garriott tweets: The gargoyles are not strangers to the surface. Some of their rituals may have taken place there. But, I had not thought their world was on the
opposite side of gravities center. Rather that they lived deep but well above, the core.
And then this:
I asked if the altar in the gargoyle world was the slab from the intro, and LB responded that it looks similar hard to recall after 34 years.
I definitely think there's some cool potential for exploring how this would all work in-game.
Also now I officially feel like I'm Justin Long driving Tim Allen crazy in GalaxyQuest:
Justin Long (the fanboy) annoying Tim Allen's character about trivial details from the fictional sci-fi show Allen's character had starred in.
